Puke Pity Party
How much of mama's time is spent tending to a sick child? I've been asking myself this all day... I mean, really, if it wasn't the worlds-longest-cough-cold-combo for December & January, we've had like 3 illness-free days and now it's Puke Party 2009. Come on, is this really neccessary for every mom to cut her teeth on this? I'm not a medical intern, I don't need this much practise!
As I wipe up the puke I resort to thinking "how can I avoid this?" and I guess unless I raise my kids in a little bubble with constant hand sanitizer, they are gonna catch some things. Apparently, I was raised in such a bubble since my mother seems to recall that my brother & I were not sick as frequently as my kids are.... but I digress...
momstown had a great 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' themed party on Friday and incidently, we have lots of members who are now bonding on our message boards with solutions on how to get vomit out of carpet and how to wash down a pukey carseat... I guess we're all stuck with the same bug. :-(
But, was a few hours of aimless train choo-chooing and running dinky car wheels thru paint worth the potential pukes? Actually, yes. In my mind, it's worth it the "risk" of taking my kids out of their bubble during flu season and having some fun with other kids. They are suspectible to the same germs in a grocery cart - and a car parade is way more fun than a trip down the cereal aisle.
At least I can have a puke pity party online with my momstown pals.
